Welcome to the Global Resources Center's research guide on Korean studies. The Global Resources Center (GRC)’s Collections of Korea materials are being built to offer specialized research services tailored to the needs of researchers who are interested in the current affairs, politics, economy, culture, foreign relations, and the national security of Korea. The GRC focuses primarily upon the political, socio-economic, historical, and cultural aspects of countries and regions around the globe from the 20th century onward. This guide aims to connect you with selected resources related to Korea in both English and Korean. Some of the resources listed are available online or can be found in paper format in the Gelman Library of the George Washington University. Some resources require registration if used off-campus and are available for GWU patrons onlyNote: Many Korean sites require Internet Explorer for best performance.

Tips on Searching for Korean Studies Resources

When searching for Korean Studies material, either Korean script (한글) or the McCune-Reischauer Romanization system can be used. Since the Library of Congress follows the McCune-Reischauer system to romanize Korean, all the Korean records at the GW libraries will follow the same system.

For example, if your search word is "한국의 문화 유적", transliteration will be "Hanguk ŭi munhwa yujŏk" following McCune-Reischauer Romanization system. If you are searching using Korean script, leaving a space after the grammatical particles as in "한국 의 문화 유적" might bring a better search result. Either way, there are a number of search tips that can be employed. For more information, check out the followings:
