LSEG Workspace Database: Home

This research guide outlines how users can gain access to and use the LSEG Workspace database.

What is LSEG Workspace?

LSEG Workspace (formerly Refinitiv) is a comprehensive financial data and analytics platform offering information on global public and private companies, including financials and filings, news and corporate events, earnings estimates, price quotes, mergers and acquisitions, private equity and venture capital activity, ESG ratings, ownership data, and analyst reports. Users can screen and analyze companies, deals, private equity and venture capital firms, funds, and more. We have two add-on modules: Datastream and Aftermarket Research (AMR).

Step 1: Register for an Account

Students, faculty and staff can register for a Workspace account using their @gwu.edu address.  

After clicking on the link in your email, please complete all the fields on the form. This will include whether or not you need access to Datastream and or After-Market Research (Formerly Investext).

LSEG accounts should generally be approved by the vendor within 20 minutes - 2 hours. Datastream accounts may take up to six hours. Accounts are only active for three days to so please only register when you plan to be actively using the account.

After requests are approved, new users will receive a welcome email directly from LSEG (customerzone@refinitiv.com) containing access instructions.

Alumni access is not available.

Step 2: Sign In

Option 1:  Workspace Web Access - Sign onto the platform using any internet browser. 

Option 2:  Workspace Desktop Application - After registering for your account, you will receive the link to install the application in your welcome email. Users who install the desktop application will have access to the Workspace add-in for Excel. Note:  You can install Workspace on multiple devices, but can only sign on to one device at a time. 

License Terms

Workspace for Students is available to authorized users at George Washington University for non-commercial academic research.

The database may be used for academic purposes only.  Any use for commercial purposes, including internships or other employment opportunities (even if during a term of academic study) is prohibited.

Authorized users may download and store information from the database for academic purposes.  Upon completing projects or coursework, users should delete this information.
