The landing page after login is what we call the Workbench dashboard. The dashboard serves a couple of purposes:
- The ability to create a dataset which enables the researcher to create a dataset in minutes – this process can take a researcher 3-6 months using traditional methods. Now they can build a dataset of up to 2 million documents in less than a day.
- It also provides the researchers access to their development environment through the button “Open Jupyter Notebook”. We chose to utilize Jupyter notebooks for the development environment due to their prevalence with data scientists across disciplines. Computational notebooks have been around for decades, but Jupyter in particular has exploded in popularity over the past couple of years. ... One analysis of the code-sharing site GitHub counted more than 2.5 million public Jupyter notebooks in September 2018
