Tips, Tricks, and Help
How to FOCUS and NARROW your search: Unlike all our other scholarly article databases, there are no "subject headings" assigned to articles in JSTOR. So to focus your search, try these work-arounds:
- Use the drop-down menu next to the search box to select 'Abstract' and then enter a subject into the search box. This is assuming that the author has mentioned the 'subject' of his article in his Abstract.
- Limit to just "Articles" and eliminate all the other types.
- Use a date range.
- Limit to just English.
- Limit your search to just one or two 'Disciplines' by putting a check mark next to the appropriate one at the bottom of the JSTOR search page.

How to FIND CURRENT ARTICLES: If you need current scholarly journal articles, you will not find them in JSTOR. Use the appropriate Research Guide to help you select the best specialized ALADIN databases to use for your particular research topic. If you need advice on that, Ask A Librarian.
