SIC vs NAICS

The North American Industry Classification System has been used since the 2002 Economic Census. If you are comparing pre-NAICS data and need the former SIC code, use the Bridge between NAICS and SIC to find the proper code.

Economic Census Publications

The Economic Census is conducted by the United States Census Bureau every five years ending in a 2 or a 7. It provides data on construction, manufacturers, minerals, minority- and women-owned businesses, retail trade, service industries, transportation, and wholesale trade.

Data for the 2007 Economic Census is still being processed.
