Opportunities Abroad: Study and Working Internationally

Tips and recommendations for students to prepare for the experience and for conducting research while abroad.

Getting Books

As a student who is off-campus, you can request chapters of books to be scanned and emailed to you!  From the library catalog just click 'Request.'

If the catalog won't allow you to request the item, then email librcir@gwu.edu and ask them to verify and update your status for your time abroad.

Accessing Articles from Journals, Magazines and Newspapers Online

You have access to all library materials as long as you have an internet connection.  To get into the GW databases - so that you can find articles - go to the library homepage and click on "Subject Databases."

Once you click on the title of a database you will be asked to login (unless you are already logged in through a VPN connection - see box to the left).  Use your UserID and Password, just as you would to login to your email.  Now you can access the article databases as if you were on campus.
